New Home Entertainment Products:
When we started with Project KURO we aimed to change the market and the way you watch television forever. Our flat panel displays produce a picture that is light years ahead of anything else available anywhere in the world. This year at CES we lifted the curtain on how far Project KURO has come in changing what you think of as a television.
Extreme Contrast: By showcasing the industry's first flat panel display that achieves an absolute black, Pioneer is challenging the contrast ratio debate. Pioneer successfully created a television that eliminates all measurable light emitted from the screen for a rich picture filled with vibrant penetrating color.
Design Concept: Pioneer has designed a television that is the world’s thinnest 50” television. At 9mm thin and a light 41 lbs, it creates a dynamic canvas that could be easily placed to match any décor.
Flagship Elite Receiver: After four years of development and growing anticipation, our Pioneer® Elite® SC-09TX Receiver was on display as the defining component of the ultimate HD Home Entertainment system.
Code named the "Susano Receiver", the SC-09TX is the first of its kind to incorporate our sound tuning expertise with advanced ICEpower® technology to power multiple rooms with high resolution, multi-channel audio. The Susano Receiver is designed to redefine the HD home entertainment experience with the capability of supporting new digital formats such as HD Video and audio , music, home network entertainment, iPod® and Satellite radio.
More on the SC-09TX Susano Receiver
Blu-ray Disc Player: Having already introduced players renowned in the industry for creating an unrivaled picture and premium sound quality, Pioneer introduced a new full-profile Blu-ray Disc player. The new 1.1 profile player provides picture-in-picture capability to display two movies on the same screen.
Pioneer Receivers: Embodying the sleek, black finish of KURO flat-panel displays, Pioneer proudly displayed its new
line of A/V Receivers. These four new A/V receivers utilize maximum power from multi-channel sound formats and include many connectivity ports for all your home theater components.
A new breed of navigation. As a revolutionary way to combine the ease of portable navigation units and the advanced features of an in-dash navigation system, a hybrid navigation system was born. A unit that can be taken from and customized for different vehicles, the new navigation unit comes with all the advanced features found in in-dash units like conversational voice control of Bluetooth® phones and iPod® players.
Premier Reference Series: Pioneer’s sound engineers have started offering a full line of Premier Reference Series (PRS) products. The line includes products such as DEH-P800PRS CD player, PRS-A900 amplifier, and TS-C720PRS speakers that work together to create hands down, the ultimate in-car sound experience.
Car CD players: With integrated high-speed iPod control, USB and MP3 plug-ins and Bluetooth functionality, these aren’t your ordinary CD players. The new fleet of Pioneer CD players feature proprietary technology to improve your music. By evaluating compressed music files like MP3s, the Advanced Sound Retriever technology replaces elements in the file that were lost in compression for a richer, fuller, more dynamic sound.
Speakers: Pioneer sound engineers scoured the earth to find a material strong enough to handle the heat but that could be processed into fibers. What they found was a natural rock called basalt. By using basalt and ceramic speaker cones, Pioneer’s new line of speakers offer a smooth sound that sounds just as clear as live performances under controlled conditions.
Subwoofers: The next generation of Pioneer’s ground-breaking shallow subwoofers are on display, designed to bring robust bass performance for any vehicle. Their shallow design and exclusive Air Suspension technology allow them to fit into smaller spaces than typical subwoofers, while delivering the same impactful sound performance.
Booth Highlights
Attracting flocks of show goers, Pioneer’s newly redesigned exhibit kept something new and exciting at every turn. With new products and demo rooms like the Vault and the KURO room, Pioneer kept the show floor buzzing.

More Images
The Vault. One of the most visually interesting points of the booth was the steel doors dubbed the “Pioneer Vault”. With each opening of the steel clad door, visitors were ushered inside as the door closed behind them. Once inside, visitors were able to experience the new mobile products in a whole different way. Sound that you’d expect in a state of the art theater is powered by Pioneer and Premier mobile products to showcase Pioneer in-car audio systems’ elegance and intensity.
Project KURO Theater. CES show attendees fortunate enough to gain access into the Project KURO Theater were ensconced by a mysteriously darkened room until enticed by a floating image at center stage. Moments later it becomes apparent that the hovering image is the Extreme Contrast Concept television by Pioneer. In concert with the fleet of 2008 model KURO flat-panel displays, there won’t be a single person without goose bumps.
