Stand back. The Premier TS-W3004SPL subwoofer is designed to produce enormously powerful music. Just take a look at its super-heavy-duty construction, all designed to handle up to 3,000 watts max. The titanium voice coil bobbin. The ceramic-coated voice coil wire. Double-stacked magnets for higher power, and a step-up radial surround for superior control and long excursions. We used an aluminum heat sink and even constructed a cast-aluminum basket for this sub. Add in our patented IMPP cone and you've got a monster sub that can handle whatever you want to throw at it — including Pioneer's new breed of SPL amplifiers like the PRS-D3000SPL.
Titanium Voice Coil Bobbin
With a subwoofer capable of handling this much power, ALL of its parts have to be up to the task. No weak links, and this even includes the voice coil bobbin. To make sure the TS-W3004SPL's voice coil bobbin was virtually indestructible, we created them from titanium. No weak link here.
Ceramic-Coated Voice Coil Wire
The TS-W3004SPL's voice coil wire is coated with ceramic, which allows it to handle extreme heat. This doubles the input power handling capability and significantly improves reliability. This technology is proven, with consecutive dB Drag Racing DeathMatch competition wins at the 2003 and 2004 dB Drag Racing World Finals!
Double-Stack Magnet with Double-Stack Top Plate
To produce the tremendous magnetic energy we envisioned for this sub, we employed double-stacked magnets, weighing a hefty 110oz, and a double-stacked top plate above them. This design ensures positive, powerful control of the voice coil during those long excursions — and it's one reason you can ring up those high SPL numbers.
Wide-Roll 3-Layer Fiber Radial Surround
A sub's surround plays a key role in a speaker's performance. In order for bass response to be clear and tight, the surround has to respond evenly around its entire circumference without flexing or puckering, even at high volume levels. That's why Pioneer created a surround consisting of two layers of urethane with a layer of interwoven fiber between them. It's strong, stable, and it reduces distortion. In addition, the wider-than-normal design provides a long, linear excursion for excellent control and heavy-duty durability.
IMPP Cone with Carbon Fiber/Glass Fiber Reinforcement
Pioneer invented the process of injection-molding polypropylene to form a speaker cone. We call them IMPP cones, and they're exceptionally strong and lightweight. Now, we've reinforced IMPP with carbon and glass fiber, providing speaker cones with extraordinary strength and rigidity — and light weight. This is ideal for powerful, accurate music. And it gives the cones the durability needed for withstanding heat, humidity, and dust.
Aluminum Heat Sink
In creating huge magnetic force, magnets can get very hot. And heat can create distortion. So, we included an aluminum heat sink that cools the voice coil structure.
Cast Aluminum Basket
Designed from scratch by Pioneer, this one-piece aluminum basket assembly holds the motor assembly, cone, and magnet structure securely in place. The benefits of this design: reduced internal stress, superior damping, and increased magnetic efficiency.
Dual Voice Coil
TS-W3004SPL uses two voice coils, each at 4 ohms. This design offers you the flexibility of turning it into either a 2-ohm sub (voice coils connected in parallel), an 8-ohm sub (connected in a series), or powering the voice coils separately (dual 4 ohm loads). More options, more power: that's what DVC is all about.
