How quickly can I scroll through a long list of songs?

The rotary knob uses an accelerated rotation mode; if you turn the knob slowly it will move line-by-line. If you rotate the knob quickly, the selection line skips many lines depending on the speed of rotation. There is also a speed-scroll; by pressing the knob down for a moment, the display will indicate the new mode and you can quickly zip through thousands of files by jumping by letter / number.
