Rocking out to music in the car is never complete without good sounding bass from a subwoofer. Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. is making it easier for consumers to get the best sounding bass possible with a new line of subwoofers introduced today at the International Consumer Electronics Show. Available in 12- and 10-inch versions, the PRO series subwoofers, TS-W3001D4/2 and TS-W2501D4/2, are the most advanced subwoofers Pioneer has ever developed featuring technologies such as the exclusive “Air Suspension” system that allows them to be installed in extremely small enclosures.
“We’re implementing new technologies into the PRO subwoofers that were developed based on what we’ve learned through our participation in SPL sound competitions,” said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for the mobile entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “These subs have the ability to deliver extremely low and accurate bass without the need for large enclosures. From rock to rap, they’ll supply the sound that’s missing.”
The “Air Suspension” technology in the PRS subwoofers replaced the conventional spider found in the construction of most subwoofers and speakers. The technique eliminated the spider altogether and replaced it with a second cone that traps or “sandwiches” air between the front and secondary cone. The technology decreases the enclosure size requirement by 70 percent. In approximately half the space needed for conventional drivers of the same size, Pioneer’s subwoofers obtain similar output levels with higher sound quality.
Other technologies in the PRO series subwoofers include:
