Fully embracing today’s smartphone connected lifestyle, Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. is collaborating with HTC Corporation to incorporate the seamless connectivity standards of the new HTC Connect™ program into a number of its home entertainment products, including many of the latest 2012 Pioneer and Elite® branded audio video receivers1 and its new XW-SMA1, XW-SMA3 and XW-SMA4 wireless speakers. Pioneer is the first consumer electronics manufacturer to receive HTC Connect certification; a new program that enables wireless high quality music files to be shared between compatible HTC One™ smartphones2 and Pioneer products supporting the feature.
“Smartphones are now significant sources of media content and we’re making every attempt to take advantage of their versatility and features by incorporating connectivity into Pioneer home products,” said Russ Johnston, executive vice president, for the Home Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “With the new HTC Connect certification process, users of compatible HTC smartphones on the Android™ platform will be able to connect seamlessly to a number of our latest home entertainment systems and enjoy the music content stored on their phones.”
The HTC Connect program helps create an improved user experience for wireless audio playback and control. HTC Connect certified products from Pioneer can accept high-quality audio files and show the included artist, album, and song metadata and album art when pushed to an AV receiver connected to a video display. Pioneer will provide a firmware update³ for the applicable 2012 Pioneer and Elite model AVRs to enable users to take advantage of HTC Connect experiences.
The HTC Connect standard helps create a convenient wireless solution to enjoy content stored on their HTC Connect compatible smartphones, eliminating the need to leave their smartphones physically docked, cradled or connected with cables. HTC Connect allows users to stream audio content while simultaneously making calls, browse the Internet, texting, or playing games on their smartphones.
