How Loud is Loud?
In sound pressure level (SPL) competitions, whether its dB Drag, IASCA or USAC, the sound intensity produced by the stereo systems in competition vehicles are measured in decibels (dB) by a machine and a microphone. The chart provides real world scenarios of sound intensities.

Scott Owens is the first and only SPL competitor to surpass the 180 dB barrier. He owns the title of having the "Loudest Car in the World," a Ford F-250 that uses 13 Pioneer® Premier® TS-W5102SPL subwoofers powered by 52 PRS-D5000SPL amplifiers and 128 16-volt batteries to produce more than 157,000 watts of power.
