New Technical Audio Devices' Reference 1 Loudspeaker Delivers Professional Audio to the Home Entertainment Experience
LAS VEGAS, CES Booth #9827 1/7/2007
At the International Consumer Electronics Show today, Technical Audio Devices (TAD™) will showcase a new Reference One loudspeaker, the highly anticipated successor to its popular Model-1. The new Reference One capitalizes on TAD’s award-winning engineering and design including beryllium midrange and tweeter diaphragms, proprietary Coherent Source Transducer (CST) driver technology as well as powerful bass drivers. Encased in a black hardwood veneer cabinet, Reference One delivers unparelleled sound performance to the home, bringing music to life.
Technical Audio Devices' has developed some of the world’s leading professional speakers for more than 30 years, leveraging its expertise to provide exemplary high definition sound at home through the TAD Home Audio division founded in 1994. Reference One represents the latest in TAD’s continued commitment to breaking new ground with cutting-edge sound reproduction for realism and precision audio for even the most discerning of audiophiles.
“As a group of audio aficionados, TAD engineers want consumers to experience the best that high end audio can bring. Industry-leading technology with uncompromised design means listeners can expect a new level of entertainment with Reference One,” said Andrew Jones, director of engineering for Technical Audio Devices. “Reference One represents the culmination of our ideal speakers with dazzling sound that infuses excitement in listeners.”
Renowned Design Technology
Reference One features a specialized cabinet construction with a resiliently mounted midrange driver that provides high performance home audio. The speaker has a concentric tweeter/midrange speaker driver comprised of vapor-deposited beryllium diaphragms and an innovative bass driver motor structure, all TAD exclusives. The proprietary Coherent Sound Transducer (CST) driver technology and ISO Drive Energy Isolation work in concert to optimize sound reproduction.
CST Driver Technology Featuring Beryllium
Considerable time and painstaking effort has gone into development of the Coherent Sound Transducer (CST) technology, a key factor found in every TAD loudspeaker. At the heart of any speaker system are well-designed tweeter and midrange diaphragms. TAD recognized the superior strength and damping characteristics of Beryllium diaphragms and spent more than 25 years developing and refining its signature Beryllium diaphragms using an exclusive Vapor Deposition process.
By employing a concentric design, the Reference One is able to emit both upper and critical mid-frequencies (covering the range from 250Hz to an astonishing 100kHz) from a single point source, essential for accurate sound reproduction. Consumers seeking a high-end loudspeaker have to look no further than Reference One for uncompromised, consistent sound audio throughout an entire listening experience.
Complex Bass Driver Construction
For powerful bass performance, the Reference One has a pair of proprietary 10-inch bass driver cones. The bass driver cone and dustcap are constructed from woven aramid fiber and carbon fiber sandwiching a foamed acrylic core designed to produce an extremely strong rigid diaphragm. The motor structure features an underhung design with novel flux path to significantly improve sound reproduction capability without distortion. The bass drivers reproduce frequencies from below 25 Hz to 250 Hz with ease.
Fine Audio Reproduction
The Reference One loudspeaker incorporates TAD’s ISO Drive technology that mechanically isolates the CST driver from the main enclosure to reduce the vibrational energy that so often clouds midrange detail. The result is clear, uncompromised detail for music and movies.
Refined Cabinetry Design
The Reference One has a unique internal cabinet construction and precious hardwood veneer that is hand-rubbed to a piano-grade gloss finish. The speaker features a teardrop shape that minimizes resonances within the cabinet, while bass output is enhanced with the cabinet’s 330-pound mass. Consumers gain a striking piece of audio equipment with sophisticated sound from the inside out.
A limited number of Reference One Loudspeakers will be available in spring 2007 with pricing to be announced then.
Founded in 1975, TAD Pro Audio loudspeakers are used in recording studios and professional sound production environments worldwide. With the establishment of TAD Home Audio the company’s new flagship Reference 1 speaker, incorporating features including TAD’s proprietary Beryllium diaphragms, now delivers professional studio audio quality to consumers.
