Compressed Audio can be Music to Your Ears
The proliferation of online music download services turned Americans on to compressed audio formats such as .mp3 and WMA, enabling us to amass huge catalogs of compressed digital music. These compressed audio formats make it easy to carry thousands of songs in a portable player or burned onto disc to listen to at home, in the car or even when you’re out and about.
However, these technologies basically take your audio files and compress them into a much smaller file size. This means that during that compression some of the information is eliminated so there’s space for more of your favorite songs but less than perfect sound quality. This may not sound bad through an ear bud, but when you listen in the living room on your home theater system or in your car, the sound quality can suffer.
The audio lovers at Pioneer integrated some of the most advanced audio technologies into the current home and car products in order to enhance those compressed music files so you get unbelievable sound, the way it was meant to be heard.
Pioneer A/V receivers use a refined technology called hi-bit sampling to enhance digital audio. This conversion technology extrapolates musical information lost in the digital recording process of WMA or .mp3 files. It then adds the information back in to create music with a fuller and warmer sound. In other words, it fills in the “digital gaps.” It’s similar to the BMX technology used in car stereos, but designed for the home.
Pioneer’s current home theater systems feature Sound Retriever Digital Sound Processing, which improves the quality of compressed audio files by digitally processing audio data to “fill in” information that is left out when files are compressed. These systems go a step further by also providing you various surround sound options to enhance the range of your music. They’re great for an audio lover who wants to enjoy an entire catalog of music on one home theater system.
