Toru Nagatani

Toru Nagatani is chief engineer for TAD in both the Home Audio and Professional Divisions. His
engineering expertise has been instrumental to TAD since 1985. Toru’s knowledge and understanding of
TAD’s professional products – including the company’s proprietary application of Beryllium – proved vital to
the development of the Model-1 Flagship loudspeaker for the high-end consumer market. Since 1985, Toru
has worked as a design engineer and later as a chief engineer for TAD, Pioneer Electronics Technology and
Pioneer Corporation. During this tenure, Toru’s skills as a designer have been applied in the development
of many different audio reproduction components in professional as well as home audio loudspeakers. Toru
began his design career in Japan and now works in TAD’s U.S. design center in Pomona, California.
Meanwhile, his reach as a design engineer is worldwide as products showcasing his talents are enjoyed in
multiple continents. Toru has a degree in acoustic design from the Kyushu Institute of Design.
