Driver Installation driver_manual.txt (English) About Installing the Drivers The driver software for the DMP-555 consists of 2 drivers. You can get the following functionality from your equipment by installing these 2 drivers on your computer and then connecting the DMP-555 to your computer with a USB cable. USB Driver: Enables you to operate DJS DJ Play functions using your DMP-555. Enables you to operate DJS Create functions using your DMP-555. SD Driver: Allows you to use the DMP-555 as an SD memory card reader/writer with DJS Transfer functions. There are 6 steps in the process of installing the drivers. Performing the following 6 steps will allow to complete the installation of both the USB and SD drivers. Step 1 Checking the Status of Each Device Step 2 Checking and Changing the Driver Signing Options Step 3 Installing the Drivers (USB and SD Drivers) Step 4 Detecting and Getting the New Hardware Ready for Use (USB Driver) Step 5 Detecting and Getting the New Hardware Ready for Use (SD Driver) Step 6 Resetting the Driver Signing Options * If you are using Windows 2000, you will not need to do Steps 2 and 6. Driver Installation Either a user with administratorfs authority or a user logged in as an administrator has to install this driver software. Step 1 Checking the Status of Each Device Check that your DMP-555 and your computer are in the following states. ¥ The DMP-555 and the computer are not connected via USB cable. ¥ All other programs open on your computer are closed. Step 2 Checking and Changing the Driver Signing Options * If you are using Windows 2000, you will not need to do Step 2. If you are using Windows 2000, go to Step 3. (1) Open up the [Driver Signing Options] dialog box. 1. Right click [My Computer] on the Windows [Start] menu to display its short cut menu. 2. When you click on [Properties] in the short cut menu, it opens up the [System Properties] window. 3. After selecting the [Hardware] tab in the [System Properties] window, if you click [Driver Signing], the [Driver Signing Options] window will open up. (2) Check the setting under [What action do you want Windows to take?] in the [Driver Signing Options] window. * It will be set to one of the following: Ignore, Warn or Block. Make a note of the current setting so you wonft forget it. * In the final step, Step 6, you will use this note to reset this option. (3) Select [Ignore] under [What action do you want Windows to take?] and then click [OK]. The [Driver Signing Options] window closes and returns you to the [System Properties] window. (4) Once you click [OK] on the [System Properties] window, the [System Properties] window will close. Step 3 Installing the Drivers (USB and SD Drivers) (1) Put the DJS CD in the CD-ROM drive. * If the [DJS Installation] window opens up automatically, click [Cancel] and close the [DJS Installation] window. (2) Start up the driver installation program. 1. If you click [My Computer] on the Windows [Start] menu, the disk drives connected to your computer will be shown. 2. Right click the icon of the disk drive you put the DJS CD-ROM to display its short cut menu. 3. If you click [Open] in the short cut menu, the contents of the DJS CD-ROM will be displayed. 4. Double clicking the icon of the [DMP-555] folder displays the contents of the [DMP-555] folder. 5. If you double click the icon of the [Install_DMP_driver.exe] program, it will start up the installation program and display the [Confirming Driver Signing] message. * If you are using Windows 2000, the [Checking for Open Applications] message will be displayed. (3) Once you click [Yes] on the [Confirming Driver Signing] message, the [Checking for Open Applications] message will open. * If you are using Windows 2000, the [Confirming Driver Signing] message will not be displayed. Proceed to step (4). (4) Once you click [Yes] on the [Checking for Open Applications] message, the [Installation Notes] message will open. * If you are using Windows 2000, [Driver Software Install] will start up. (5) Click [OK] on the [Installation Notes] message and the [Driver Software Install] will begin. (6) When the installation begins, the following 3 windows will open on your screen. Top Left of the Screen: [File Progress Status] window Middle of the Screen: [Driver Software Install] window Top Right of the Screen: [Notes] window * If you are using Windows 2000, the [Notes] window not will be displayed. * If you are using Windows 2000, a message may open indicating [Could not find digital signature]. If that happens click either [Yes] or [OK] and continue on with the installation. (7) Once the installation of the drivers finishes, the message [The installation of Driver Software finished.] will appear in the center of your screen. (8) Click the [Finish] button and the message window will close. Step 4 Detecting and Getting the New Hardware Ready for Use (USB Driver) The installed USB drivers are read in and the computer checks to make sure the USB drivers were installed correctly. (1) Start up DJS and open the [DJ Play] screen. * For information on how to start up DJS, refer to the Quick Start Guide (pamphlet) or the Userfs Manual (PDF). (2) Turn the power of the DMP-555 (player) ON and then connect your DMP-555 to your computer with a USB cable. 1. The message [Found New Hardware] will open at the bottom right of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, the message [Found New Hardware] will open in the center of your screen. 2. Once the installation is complete, the [Found New Hardware] message will disappear and the message [Your new hardware is installed and ready to use] will open on the lower right of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, the message [New Hardware Installed, Ready to Use] will not be displayed. Wait for the message [New Hardware Detected] to disappear. (3) Check to make sure that the following works. 1. If you press the [CD] button in the middle of your DMP-555, the small circle fills in on the JOG Dial of the player on the left side of the [DJ Play] screen. 2. If you turn the JOG Dial of the DMP-555, the JOG Dial of the player on the left side of the [DJ Play] screen rotates. 3. If you press the [Card] button in the middle of your DMP-555, the small circle fills in on the JOG Dial of the player on the right side of the [DJ Play] screen. 4. If you turn the JOG Dial of the DMP-555, the JOG Dial of the player on the right side of the [DJ Play] screen rotates. If everything above works, the USB drivers are correctly installed. Proceed to Step 5. If not everything above works, the USB drivers are not correctly installed. Close DJS and redo the driver installation from Step 1. Step 5 Detecting and Getting the New Hardware Ready for Use (SD Driver) The installed SD drivers are read in and the computer checks to make sure the SD drivers were installed correctly. (1) Put an SD memory card in the DMP-555fs card slot. * If the tab on the side of the SD card is on LOCK, slide the tab to the UNLOCK position. * Gently insert SD cards, notch first with the label facing up and the card level, pressing it all the way in. (2) Select [File] from the menu at the top of the DJS screen and click on [Transfer]. 1. The message [DMP-555 connection failed.] will open in the center of your screen. * The message [DMP-555 connection failed.] may not be displayed, depending on your operating environment. 2. The message [New Hardware Detected] will open at the bottom right of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, the message [New Hardware Detected] will open in the center of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, a message may open indicating [Could not find digital signature]. If that happens click either [Yes] or [OK] and continue on with the installation. 3. The [Found New Hardware Wizard] window opens in the center of your screen. * The [Found New Hardware Wizard] window may not open, depending on your operating environment. (3) Select [Install the software automatically] in the [Found New Hardware Wizard] window and then click [Next]. * The [Found New Hardware Wizard] window may not open, depending on your operating environment. 1. A window saying [Please wait while the wizard searchesc] opens up. * Depending on your operating environment, the [Select the best software for your hardware from the list below] window may appear. If it does, select: Location: C/windows/inf/oem**.inf (** is a variable) and then click [Next]. 2. Once the SD driver is found, a window saying [Please wait while the wizard installs the software] will appear. 3. Once the installation finishes, the [Found new Hardware wizard] window will open. * The [New Hardware Search Wizard Finished] window may not open, depending on your operating environment. (4) Click [Finish] on the [New Hardware Search Wizard Finished] window. * The [New Hardware Search Wizard Finished] window may not open, depending on your operating environment. 1. The message [New Hardware Detected] will open at the bottom right of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, the message [New Hardware Detected] will open in the center of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, a message may open indicating [Could not find digital signature]. If that happens click either [Yes] or [OK] and continue on with the installation. 2. Once the installation is complete, the [New Hardware Detected] message will disappear and the message [New Hardware Installed, Ready to Use] will open at the lower right of your screen. * If you are using Windows 2000, the message [New Hardware Installed, Ready to Use] will not be displayed. Wait for the message [New Hardware Detected] to disappear. (5) If you press the [Retry] button on the [DMP-555 connection failed.] message, the message window will disappear. * The message [DMP-555 connection failed.] may not be displayed, depending on your operating environment. (6) Check to make sure that you can do the following. 1. Make sure gTransferh is displayed on the upper left of the DJS screen and then select [File] from the menu and click on [DJ Play]. 2. Make sure it switches to the [DJ Play] screen and then select [File] from the menu and click on [Transfer]. 3. Check and make sure it switches to the [Transfer] screen and that the message [DMP-555 connection failed.] is not displayed. (7) If the message [DMP-555 connection failed.] is displayed when checking the operations in (6) above, follow the procedures below and then check again that it is working. 1. Remove the SD memory card from the DMP-555 and turn the power switch OFF. * If the tab on the side of the SD card is on LOCK, slide the tab to the UNLOCK position. 2. Turn the power switch to your DMP-555 back ON and insert the SD memory card. * Gently insert SD cards, notch first with the label facing up and the card level, pressing it all the way in. 3. If you press the [Retry] button on the [DMP-555 connection failed.] message, the message window will disappear. Check again that the operations in (6) noted above work. If everything above works, The SD driver is installed correctly. Proceed to Step 6. * If you are using Windows 2000, the foregoing completes all the steps in the [Driver Software Install]. If not everything above works, The SD driver is not installed correctly. Close DJS and redo the [Driver Software Install] from Step 1. Step 6 Resetting the Driver Signing Options * If you are using Windows 2000, you will not need to do Step 6. If you are using Windows 2000, finishing up to Step 5 completes all the steps in the Driver Installation. In this step, the [Driver Signing Options] that were changed in Step 2 are reset to what they were before. (1) Open up the [Driver Signing Options] dialog box. 1. Right click [My Computer] on the Windows [Start] menu to display its short cut menu. 2. When you click on [Properties] in the short cut menu, it opens up the [System Properties] window. 3. After selecting the [Hardware] tab in the [System Properties] window, if you click [Driver Signing], the [Driver Signing Options] window will open up. (2) Return the setting under [What action do you want Windows to take?] in the [Driver Signing Options] window back to what it was before installation of the drivers. * Check your note of the settings, which you made in (2) of Step 2 and click on [Ignore], [Warn] or [Block] to select it. (3) Click [OK] on the [Driver Signing Options] window. The [Driver Signing Options] window closes and returns you to the [System Properties] window. (4) Once you click [OK] on the [System Properties] window, the [System Properties] window will close. The preceding completes all the steps involved in [Driver Software Install].
