Monitor Vehicle Performance
Using an OBD-II Bluetooth code reader* in your car is easy. Install the Pioneer Smart Sync V4.0 app from the app store or google downloads. Go to your phone settings and enable Bluetooth devices**. Plug in the code reader (sold separately) of your choice, into the OBD-II port located under the dash on the driver’s side, usually right above the gas or the brake pedal. Select the OBD-II scanner code reader from the settings menu on the Pioneer Smart Sync V4.0 app via Bluetooth and pair with your compatible Pioneer in-dash receiver to begin monitoring vehicle performance.
*Note: OBD-II code readers are not Pioneer products and Pioneer is not responsible for their use. There may be risks in the case of faulty performance of an OBD-II code reader including potential vehicle battery drain or introducing security vulnerabilities. Research the benefits and risks of using an OBD-II code reader before connecting one to your vehicle. Not all vehicle data may display depending on the vehicle model. Data displayed through Pioneer Smart Sync may be inaccurate due to communication errors or delays, or performance issues with the OBD-II code reader, Pioneer Smart Sync, or the vehicle.
** When using an iPhone device, OBD-II code reader must support BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). When using an Android smartphone, OBD-II code reader must support Bluetooth 4.0 and above. Not all OBD-II code readers may work with Pioneer Smart Sync.
