Overview

Pioneer introduces the next generation Blu-ray optical drive, the BDR-2206. The BDR-2206 retail model includes the BDR-206UBK Internal BD/DVD/CD Writer and a full suite of Blu-ray Disc software for a PC.

Beginners and experts alike will find that the included software from Cyberlink makes it easy to create high-definition Blu-ray Disc videos and standard definition DVDs, watch Blu-ray Disc and DVD movies on a PC, and archive or share data on Blu-ray, DVD, or CD media.

This drive will write up to 12x1 on BD-R and BD-R DL media. One BD-R DL disc will hold the same amount of data as 10 DVDs (single layer).

The BDR-2206 also has unique features such as Quiet Drive and PureRead. Quiet Drive intelligently adjusts the disc rotation speed to reduce noise (useful while watching movies), and PureRead automatically adjusts the drive parameters to minimize sound glitches during music playback.

The BDR-2206 Internal BD/DVD/CD Writer can read and burn to Blu-ray Discs but is also backward compatible to read and write to most DVD and CD recordable media.  Click on the "Specifications" tab to see all supported media formats and the write/burn speeds achievable for each format.

Drive Features

Faster burning
First in the industry to realize 12x writing on BD-R discs, Pioneer can also now achieve 12x writing on BD-R Dual Layer (DL) discs.
A quieter drive
With a new redesigned disc tray structure, the airflow in our drives is smoothed and operational noise reduced. Enhancements such as tunnel-like air intakes and ducts, plus a new smoother interior to the drive suppress noise and provide a quieter experience.
A smarter drive
Pioneer drives with Auto Quiet Operation monitor how they are being used and will adjust their speed automatically – high speed for data transfer, and low speed for music or movie playback.

An eco-friendly drive
Smaller packaging - saves resources and fuel for transportation.

Music that doesn’t skip or pop
Scratches and fingerprints on your CDs can cause them to skip. A drive normally makes an calculated guess at the unreadable data and attempts to correct this to match the original music. However this is not 100% accurate. PureRead, when enabled, makes the drive reread the questionable data to extract the original music as accurately as possible.

Increased life excpectancy
The sound barrier design that traps noise inside the drive also works to keep dust outside the drive. This makes the newly developed drive much more dust resistant than previous models and drive failure due to dust is practically nonexistent.

Wide blank media support
Pioneer strives to have best in class performance over a wide range of media – our drives achieve this for a large variety of BD and DVD media. Refer to the drive’s media support list for all supported media and the write speed that can be achieved.

Top quality writing
Our chassis' design maximizes disc stability and write quality by reducing warping at high speed caused by disc vibration, especially on the outer areas of the disc.
