PIONEER INTRODUCES TWO NEW SLIMLINE ENTRY-LEVEL AV RECEIVERS AT CES 2019
Streamlined Good-Looks Match High-Performance Output
TORRANCE, CA, January 8, 2019 -- Pioneer & Onkyo USA Corporation today announced two new entry-level AV receivers: the VSX-834 7.2-Channel AV Receiverand the VSX-534 5.2-Channel AV Receiver, each units offers affordable flexibility for consumers looking to experience audio and video in a new, immersive way. Both the VSX-834 and VSX-534 will be on display in the Venetian, Bassano Room #2602-2603 during CES 2019 and will be available in February for $479.99 USD / $599.99 CAD and $379.99 USD / $499.99 CAD, respectively.
Featuring a new sleek, low-profile design with a height of just 5.8 inches, the receivers make installation into stands/racks/cabinets even easier. The good looks are matched by high performance, with deep reservoirs of power smoothly delivered through all channels, courtesy of Pioneer’s Direct Energy Amplification. Equipped with a wide selection of inputs for various digital and analogue sources, the VSX-834 and VSX-534 offer excellent audio playback quality for music, movies, TV programs, and games.
Full support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X playback.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X playback is delivered via 5.2.2 (VSX-834) and 3.2.2 (VSX-534)-channel speaker layouts. With the addition of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, movie lovers can experience a convincing 3D sound-field without having to install speakers in the ceiling. DTS:X allows for the flexible placement of speakers to enable optimized playback in a variety of layouts. Owners without Dolby Atmos speakers can still enjoy many of the benefits of object-based audio, thanks to two breakthrough surround technologies: Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer*1 and DTS Virtual:X® that simulate the output from ‘virtual’ height and surround speakers if they are not physically present in a room. The result is seamless, lifelike Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound quality in any room.
DTS Neural:X and Dolby Surround technologies also up-mix legacy “2D” soundtrack formats to simulate a surround-sound experience with a more seamless “wraparound” feeling. Both receivers are designed to create immersive 3D sound for movie soundtracks encoded on DVD, Blu-ray Disc™ or compatible video streaming services.
Premium High-Class Amplification Design
The VSX-834 delivers 165 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 10%, 1-ch driven), while the VSX-534 offers 150 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 10%, 1-ch driven) for convincing and responsive surround sound. Pioneer’s tried and tested ‘Direct Energy’ circuit design ensures wide-band frequency reproduction for an expansive soundstage with excellent spatial quality when reproducing multichannel and stereo sources.
MCACC with Phase Control Technology
Pioneer’s innovative MCACC*2 (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System) is a microphone-based sound calibration system that adjusts output to account for variables such as speaker size and distance. Additionally, Phase Control technology eliminates phase-lag caused by the low-pass filter between main channels and subwoofer, and reproduces clearer mid- and high-range sound while adding dynamic impact to LFEs. Both technologies allow the creation of a realistic soundstage with immersive presentation of film scores and music.
When using Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, high-directivity sound reflects off the ceiling, while low-directivity sound reaches the ears directly. This subtle difference causes a phase shift, making sound feel uncomfortable. Reflex Optimizer technology resolves this phase-lag and optimizes the performance of Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers for clear sound imaging at the viewing position. Sound from Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers integrates seamlessly with that from the floor speakers for a clear and comfortable sound-field.
HDMI Support for HDR, 4K/60p & BT.2020 Video Formats
All HDMI connections on the AV receivers support 4K/60p, 4:4:4, 24-bit video pass-through, and the HDCP 2.2 digital copy-protection standard for playback of premium content. Video with HDR*4 (High Dynamic Range) in HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), or Dolby Vision™ formats is passed through to a compatible display. Further, video with BT.2020 color space for spectacular color performance is supported. Super Resolution, which is a 4K upscaling technology particularly suited to HD sources, is also included.
In addition to conventional tone control, the VSX-834 and VSX-534 also feature a unique mid-range sound adjustment feature called “Dialogue Enhancement”. You can independently adjust the volume of predominantly mid-range sounds, such as the dialogue in films with the up/down key on remote control.
Zone B Output for Wireless Headphone
Connect your Wireless Headphone dock (not supplied) to the Zone B output (which extends the sound from the main zone) and you can listen via wireless headphones, ideal for late-night listening sessions. You can listen to all sound sources AVR received via the Zone B output.
Bluetooth Wireless Technology
Bluetooth wireless technology is incorporated into both VSX-834 and VSX-534 and includes a new Bluetooth Direct button that lets users instantly connect their smartphone, tablet, laptop or smart speaker such as a Google Mini or Alexa Dot.
Intuitive Graphical User Interface
Pioneer’s intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) over HDMI makes operating the receivers an intuitive, stress-free experience. The top page of the on-screen GUI displays System Setup, MCACC, and Network/Bluetooth, with quick access to each menu. A simple graphical display identifies key receiver functions, improving everyday operability, while Setup Guidance makes initial network setup very straightforward. Pioneer’s new On-Screen Display (OSD) also shows detailed audio and video information during playback.
Supports HDMI-Based Control Functions
The VSX-534 and 834 support HDMI-based control function (CEC). These models allow the following operations: volume adjustment/mute via TV; automatic input change when TV channel is switched or playback starts on a player, and linked power on/off with TV.
*1 Function available with future firmware update
*2 MCACC: Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System. MCACC is a proprietary acoustic compensation technology from Pioneer that can perform sound-field adjustment at the same level as monitoring techniques employed in sound studios.
*3 BT.2020 is a video format standard that covers a wide color space more than twice that of the BT.709 standard currently used for Blu-ray Disc and other formats.
*4 HDR is a technology that expands the maximum brightness of video. HDR technology is used with Ultra HD Blu-ray™ to expand the maximum brightness.
