Pioneer Power Meter Fully Implemented on UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling and Belkin Pro Cycling Team Bicycles for Amgen Tour of California
Pioneer’s advanced dual-leg power meter crank sets and SGX-CA500 Cycle-Computer system is set to race the Amgen Tour of California with the Belkin Pro Cycling Team and UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team starting on Sunday, May 11. Both Pioneer-sponsored race teams have their bicycles outfitted with the robust Pioneer system, providing each rider with essential real-time performance information and data such as left and right leg power measurements and analysis, pedaling stroke efficiency, power loss, force vector analysis, and torque.
Pioneer announced its technical partnership with the Belkin Pro Cycling Team in March of 2013, and recently announced its support of the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team as their “Official Power, Data and Technology Equipment Supplier” in April 2014. The Amgen Tour of California event is the first comprehensive showing of Pioneer’s sponsorship and both teams are fully “race-ready” with the Pioneer system.
Pioneer has been working diligently with riders, mechanics, and coaches from both teams to ensure proper use and application of its power meter and Cycle-Computer system. The system’s capabilities and versatility provide riders with the tools required to obtain real-time power measurements and analysis in order to make necessary and instantaneous adjustments to their riding techniques for increased power and performance output.
The Belkin Pro Cycling Team has been instrumental in helping progress Pioneer’s system to its current state by providing real world race experience and feedback. Since March of 2013, Belkin riders have been utilizing the initial version of the Pioneer power meter and Cycle-Computer for training and races with much success. This season, the Belkin Pro Cycling Team switched over to the current version of the Pioneer system to further their achievements. The team has a strong group of riders, including Lars Boom and Laurens ten Dam, and will use the system to aim for podium finishes in the Amgen Tour of California and in many races throughout the season.
The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team has Pioneer products installed on both their men’s team bicycles and the women’s team bicycles. So far this season, the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Men’s Team has proven its competitive strength with five wins, seven podiums, and 22 top-ten finishes. The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Women’s Team has been a “force to be reckoned with” with 11 wins, 12 podiums, and 26 top-ten finishes so far, resulting from talents such as Hannah Barnes, Alison Powers, Mara Abbott, Sharon Laws and Coryn Rivera, just to name a few. The team anticipates great results at the Amgen Tour of California, utilizing Pioneer’s power meter system to help achieve those goals.
